Counseling

Get the support you want and need in-person in Logroño, online or by phone!

Living in another country can be an amazing adventure, and it can also be really hard.

We all need help sometimes and it doesn’t mean there is anything wrong with you.

Hi there! I’m Anya

I am a counselor working in La Rioja, but trained in the United States. I have a Master’s Degree in Couples and Family Counseling and have worked with children, adolescents, adults, couples and families, as well as culturally diverse populations.

For several years, I worked at larger community mental health centers and smaller nonprofits with clients struggling with depression, anxiety, post traumatic stress disorder, suicidal thoughts, addiction, and survivors of neglect and various forms of abuse, among many other issues.

I have also had experience doing teletherapy with clients over video and telephone, as well as in-person.

My approach is generally a mixture of cognitive behavioral, narrative, person-centered, and systemic methods, but it really depends on what each client needs and responds to. I believe this is a collaborative process where we explore together what works best for you.

In the United States, I worked as a licensed professional counselor candidate (LPCC) but I am not currently a licensed psychologist in Spain due to language and bureaucratic limitations. At Study Hall, we have found a way to offer English speakers living or staying in Spain (either permanently, temporarily, or just passing through) the opportunity to access emotional support services from someone who knows first-hand how challenging it can be to live in a different country.

If you have any questions about my methods, experience or anything else please don’t hesitate to reach out.

Counseling Services

Kids & Teens

Growing up is not easy, particularly in this day and age. Whether your child is facing peer and academic pressures, shifts in family dynamics, the challenge of managing their emotions, the onset of hormones, or other issues, kids and teens, like adults, can benefit from counseling.

Together we will explore what is going on with your child and within their environment in order to figure out how to support their long-term healthy mental, social and emotional development.

I am here to help in any way I can, whether that means working with your child independently or working with your family as a whole to give you all the tools you need to work towards meaningful changes.

Adults

Living in a new country can be hard, but you’re not alone. As an expat myself, I can relate to many of the problems that come along with that life, and how important it can be to work with someone who speaks your own language.

Let me help you heal and learn more constructive ways to deal with the problems and issues within your life.

I can support you wherever you may be on your journey of life.

Whether you are looking for generalized ongoing support or are struggling with a specific individual, relationship, work or specific mental health concern, I am here for you.

Families and Couples

Our family members and partners are often our source for knowledge, strength and feedback and even where we feel most loved and cared about.

However, we sometimes encounter challenges due to stress, misunderstanding, misguided emotions, disconnection or unmet needs.

Or maybe your family is going through a transition period and both you and your children are dealing with complex feelings of guilt, loss, pain or abandonment.

Counseling can help families and couples identify and address these concerns.
